The Globethics.net, initiated by ecumenically-oriented organisations but now actively seeking to integrate other faith representatives, is a non-profit network open to all those who agree on the following goals and principles:
Goals
Networking To share information and research on ethical issues and provide space to create synergies and broaden contextual and global perspectives.
Empowerment To strengthen institutions working on ethics, especially in developing and transition countries, mainly by electronic networking.
Teamwork To facilitate common projects of research, publications, events, statements or action, especially with a broader participation from developing and transition countries.
Principles
To share common values To act on the basis of common core values such as justice, peace, freedom, sustainability, responsibility, caring for life in dignity for everybody and struggling for a humane and sustainable development.
To respect contextual diversity To dialogue on the basis of pluralistic ethical approaches (in content and methods) and to appreciate contextual diversity, convinced that diversity in the field of ethics - as biodiversity in nature - is a positive value as an expression of the respect for human dignity.
To participate responsibly To contribute actively and be committed through sharing information and ideas in order to reach a balance between receiving and giving, taking sole responsibility for one's contribution.
To act openly and transparently To network in openness (including open source as software basis of the electronic platform), with intellectual honesty and transparency.
