A primary aim of The Association of International Librarians and Information Specialists (AILIS) is to foster better communication and closer co-operation amongst international librarians and information specialists in the Geneva - Lausanne area, e.g. working in international organizations, such as CERN, ILO, ITU, UNOG, WHO, WIPO, WTO, and others.
But more than that, because of the great changes that have occurred in the world of information during last decade, AILIS provides an opportunity to learn about the trends in our profession. In particular AILIS co-sponsors the programme "Library Science Talks" which consists of 5-6 presentations per year given by internationally recognized specialists in the field.
University Library of Tübingen
The University Library of Tübingen is a central part of the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, founded in 1477. It represents the second largest scientific library of Baden-Württenberg, providing academic literature and services not only to researchers, students and staff of the University, but offering its resources also to the scholarly community and the public worldwide.
The University Library of Tübingen entered a cooperation with Globethics.net aiming at sharing for free its primary source in religious studies, the "Index Theologicus" (International Bibliography of Theology and Religious Studies), also called IxTheo
. IxTheo is developed and maintained under the responsibility of the University Library as well as the Evangelisch-Theologische Fakultät (the Protestant faculty of theology) and the Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät (the Catholic faculty of theology) of the University of Tübingen, with Globethics.net Library. The IxTheo data will be updated in the Globethics.net Library regularly every six months, and can be accessed here: http://www.globethics.net/library/search/ixtheo
