Description

A global survey of Business Ethics as a Field of Teaching, Training and Research has been commissioned by Globethics.net in Geneva. For the purpose of the survey the world has been divided into nine regions that cover all countries in the world.
These regions are: (1) Latin America, (2) North America, (3) Sub-Saharan Africa, (4) Europe, (5) Middle East & North Africa, (6) Central Asia, (7) South & South-East Asia, (8) East Asia, and (9) Oceania.
A Regional Coordinator has been appointed for each of these regions. Each of the regional coordinators is responsible for producing a regional report on Business Ethics on their respective regions.

Goals
The objective of the workgroup is to provide a Global Report on Business Ethics as a field of Teaching, Training and Research with regard to:
– Focus areas in the field of Business Ethics
– The terms that are used to refer to Business Ethics
– The topics covered in training programson Business Ethics
– The topics covered in formal academic courses on Business Ethics
– The elective/mandatory status of Business Ethics courses
– The topics covered in Business Ethics research
– The major business ethical issues that are foreseen

Working Methods/Language(s)
Language: English Work methods: Archiving of key documents that provide an audit trail of work group activities; Preparation of a draft Global Report on Business Ethics

Expected outcome and impact
Outcome: The work group will produce a Global Report on Business Ethics as Field of Teaching, Training and Research that will be published as a special issue of an international Business Ethics journal. Impact: The Global Report will provide insight into how Business Ethics has taken root as field of Teaching, Training and Research across the world. The findings of the survey will make it possible to identify and compare unique country and regional features of Business Ethics. It will stimulate reflection on the development and maturity of Business Ethics as field of Teaching, Training and Research on a global scale.

Stage 5: Producing a Regional Report (completed Apr 2010)
