Job Description

Globethics.net Administrative Internship 50-100%

Globethics.net is a global network of persons and institutions interested in different fields of applied ethics. It offers access to resources on ethics, especially through its leading global digital library on ethics. In addition, it facilitates collaborative web-based research, conferences, online publishing and active sharing of information. Globethics.net aims especially at increasing access to ethics perspectives from Africa, Latin America and Asia. It aims at strengthening global common values and the respect of ethical contextual diversity. Globethics.net has regional coordination office in China and Indonesia.

We are looking for an intern who can assist us in various administrative tasks in our international secretariat in Geneva which is based near the international organizations in Grand-Saconnex. The person will be working in a small dynamic team and will have the opportunity of gaining a good insight into the work of an international NGO. We are looking for a flexible and motivated team player.

Major Tasks
• Updating address database (office and website database)
• Correspondence (English, French)
• Assistance in bookkeeping and payments
• Updating Website and adding news
• Filing of documents
• Supervising office infrastructure
• Assistance with various HR, legal and financial issues
• Assistance in the organisation of an international conference if internship coincides with the preparation period

Depending on the interest of the intern there are also possibilities of assisting in research projects or submission of documents into the online ethics library.

Qualifications and requirements
• Administrative training
• Fluent in English and French and preferably one other language
• Interest and ease in electronic networking
• Good knowledge of computers, Office programmes and the internet
• Experience with websites

What we offer
You will be working in a small and friendly team in an international environment. We will give you training on the job and a good insight into the work of a small international NGO. Unfortunately, we are not able to remunerate an internship. Some expenses can be reimbursed and will be discussed.

Location: The international secretariat is located in Geneva, Switzerland, close to UN institutions.
Starting date: To be discussed. Internships are possible during the whole year.
Duration: Minimum of six months.

Institute For Global Church Studies National Moderator

Duties: This is a volunteer position. An IGCS National Moderator researches information on the internet about globalization and the Church in a specific nation for posting on the IGCS Forum. The information should include news, features, videos and position papers that give our members and guests information on the impact of globalization on that nation and the response of the Church to it.
The IGCS National Moderator is responsible for the subforum of the nation. This includes responding to the posts made by our members. The moderator is encouraged to post opinions and interpretations.

Hours Requested: Two hours a week minimum.

Qualifications: The candidate should have at least a four year degree from a college, with a minor in theology/church studies. College students with an interest in a specific nation/region will be considered. The preferred candidate should have an MDiv or advanced degree. Other undergraduate or graduate degrees will be seriously considered upon confirmation of the candidate's interest in broadening our understanding of other nations and regions. The IGCS Volunteer should be self motivated and able work with minimal supervision.

The preferred candidate should live in the nation that they moderate; but candidates with a demonstrated interest in another county will be considered.

Institute For Global Church Studies Global Issue Moderator
