Our team at the Globethics.net Head Office in Switzerland was delighted to welcome a high-level delegation from the Senate of Serampore College (University), one of the oldest educational institutes in India.
The Master of the Senate of Serampore, Rt Rev. Dr John Sadananda, the Registrar, Rev. Dr Santanu Patro and the Principal and Secretary, Dr Vansanglura came to visit Globethics.net on 31 August 2017, the last day of a three-week round of visits to their European partners, including those in Sweden, Norway, Germany and Switzerland.
The Senate of Serampore has been a member of the GlobeTheoLib (Global Digital Library on Theology and Ecumenism) Consortium, a project of Globethics.net and the World Council of Churches, since 2011. One of the main points of the discussions was to refresh and renew the current partnership agreement with the College and to present Globethics.net's activities and services, including the library, publications and the recently launched Consortium on Higher Education. The Senate of Serampore delegation in turn shared their plans to celebrate the bicentenary of the founding of the College in 1818 starting in November 2017 and running through until the end of 2018. Celebrations include an international conference in August 2018 with international guests, including Globethics.net, and speakers.
After the warm exchange, Globethics.net hopes to build further relations with the Senate of Serampore College (University) and create more synergies that utilise the wealth of resources that the two institutions have for the benefit of students in India and around the world.
