Book launch 27 April 2017, Geneva, Switzerland
"What is the role of Christian entrepreneurship in the world, in churches and in the Ecumenical movement?"
It was this question that set the tone of the event organised by the Geneva Agape Foundation (GAF) together with the World Council of Churches (WCC) on 27 April 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri, Deputy General Secretary of the WCC and Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Christoph Stückelberger, Executive Director of GAF and President of Globethtics.net who presented the book Entrepreneurs with Christian Values published by Globethics.net.
Prof. Stückelberger explained that the volume, Entrepreneurs with Christian Values serves as a training handbook with 12 modules, each of which focuses on an essential area of knowledge that provides the foundation toward achieving ethical and values-driven leadership, management and investment. He stated that this volume "is not a product of individual knowledge", but rather the result of "collective knowledge gained through years of experience working with entrepreneurs and philanthropists".
The scope of philanthropy is not limited to Christianity alone; China is home not only to a range of entrepreneurs and philanthropists but also to a range of religions, all of which can benefit from the knowledge shared in the handbook.
Prof. Stückelberger ended by sharing examples of the work that GAF has done and is doing, and how they are building a network of faith-based associations and faith-based entrepreneurs who "do business from their own faith perspective" around the world.
The floor was then given to Athena Peralta, the WCC Programme Executive for the Economy of Life programme, who described the need for entrepreneurship and philanthropy in the global context of the Ecumenical Movement.
