Book launch: The Urgency of Academic Integrity
On Monday 28 June 2021, Globethics.net president and founder, Christoph Stückelberger participated in the book launch of "L'urgence de l'intégrité académique" (FR), which translates to 'the urgency of academic integrity'. The event was hosted by the Geneva School of Economics and Management, organized by the Institute for Research and Action on Academic Fraud and Plagiarism (IRAFPA) and sponsored by l'Association OVSM. IRAFPA creates an international and interdisciplinary scientific meeting space on the sciences of integrity, and supports those affected by academic plagiarism.
The book was co-edited by Michelle Bergadaà and Paulo Peixoto, with contributing chapters from Globethics.net president and founder, Christoph Stückelberger and Globethics.net Academic Dean, Amélé Ekué as part of an ongoing cooperation with the IRAFPA. Their chapters were titled 'Empowerment through integrity; towards a balanced education' and 'Globethics.net as an example of the promotion of academic integrity', respectively.
The book aimed to build a "science of integrity" focused on six key areas, namely: science, medicine, journalism, archaeology, management science and international diplomacy, with contributions from 40 authors from all disciplines and from more than ten countries. Aligned with the Globethics.net mandate of integrating ethics in higher education, Globethics.net Publications' forthcoming work will focus on exploring research ethics, with a volume on academic plagiarism by Michelle Bergadaà planned for publication in Autumn 2021.
