Commercialisation of Education and Ethical questions
Globethics.net India organised a consultation on 'Commercialisation of Education and Ethical questions' on 26 February 2021 at ICSA Chennai. Leading Education activist Dr Richard Devadoss emphasised the lack of access to education for less privileged and vulnerable populations, asking the following questions:
- Education for what?
- Education for whom?
- Cost of Education?
- Will education be equally available for all?
Mr Chandra Mohan, a social activist and guest speaker to the consultation, lamented that India's education system perpetuated a significant differences and gaps in society. The rich becoming richer, and the poor becoming poorer. Education should create a level of fielding for all.
The consultation highlighted the importance of reminding authorities that the integration of ethics in education is key to making a more inclusive and value-based society.
