September 21, 2019 – has reaffirmed its commitment to collective action, centred on a vision of a peaceful and prosperous world for all.

This reaffirmation comes as organisations around the world mark the 2019 International Day of Peace by signing a shared statement address to the UN General Assembly, government leaders and the international community.

Since the founding of the United Nations 75 years ago, one of its founding goals is to 'save future generations from the scourge of war'. Today, 75 years on, (among a long list of 'peacebuilding' organisations) has reaffirmed its commitment to this cause.

The shared statement calls on the international community to act on four points, these are:

  • move from commitments to action on peace in the 2030 Agenda and across the three UN pillars;
  • align crisis response with longer-term prevention and peacebuilding efforts;
  • protect and support civil society in fostering sustainable peace; and
  • think locally and act globally: recommit to multilateralism as a safeguard for the most vulnerable.

While does not identify itself specifically as a peacebuilding organisation, peace is a precondition for and a consequence/impact of its work.
