About this course
The course is intended for faculty members, academic teachers and researchers in Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and will help them recognise, understand and address ethical issues in personal, institutional and professional contexts. Course participants will be asked to reflect on existing policies and practices within their institutions, and more broadly, within the higher education sector. Knowledge and tools will be provided to reflect on ethical dilemmas in the context of teaching, conducting research, accompanying students and engaging with higher education policies through the lens of an ethicist. Course participants will be guided to analyse relevant case studies in view of developing ethical frameworks such as codes of ethics, regulations and other standardising instruments appropriate for their teaching praxis.

'The course on Ethics in Higher Education provides the faculty members knowledge to es-sential qualities that will help them to successfully teach future leaders to build sustainable societies based on values and ethics. Thanks to the integration of ethics in higher education, the students can learn values and will carry them after they graduate and use them in their work with their community.
Mahdy Hamed, Egypt

'The course gave me space to engage, think and reflect on the ethical issues in higher education. The university has always been a space for critical thinking. In most cases, we tend to research or discuss societal issues that seem to belong to the outside world; we (academia) very rarely think about the issues that affect us, ethical issues such as bullying or mobbing go undiscussed many times. The longer I spend studying, reading or reflecting on ethics in higher education, the more I think that we have been ‘removing the spike in our neighbour’s eyes and forgetting the log in our eye'. It is time we address ethical issues in our universities by talking about and facing them'
