The Power of Human Rights Education
On 12 July 2018 Globethics.net participated in the ‘Towards an Inclusive Peace' programme at the annual Caux forum, organised by Initiatives of Change (IoC) Switzerland.
As a potential member of the NGO working group on Human Rights Education, Globethics.net contributed to a workshop that gave participants inspiration and practical tools on how to incorporate Human Rights Education in their respective contexts.
During the workshop effective practices were shared through storytelling in which participants were encouraged to share their own personal drive that enabled them to work for peace.
Participants also had the opportunity to see the exhibition ‘Transforming Lives: The Power of Human Rights Education'. This exhibition raises awareness of the role of human rights education in promoting dignity, equality and peace, and preventing human rights violations and abuses.
The impressive stories of peacebuilders and initiatives on restorative justice and counter-extremism highlighted the need for ethical leadership from the youth onwards, leadership from individuals who have been trained through (higher) education institutes to think critically in addressing these important issues.
