Finance Officer 60 to 80%

Globethics.net is a global network of persons and institutions interested in applied ethics with a focus on ethics in higher education. Through its global digital library on ethics Globethics.net contributes to improving access to knowledge resources in ethics especially for the global South. In addition, it facilitates collaborative web-based research, conferences, online publishing, e-learning and active sharing of information. Globethics.net aims at strengthening global common values as well as the respect of ethical contextual diversity.
We are looking for an Finance Officer who can take responsibility for financial management and reporting in our Head Office in Geneva The person will be working closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and with the Administration Officer in a small dynamic team and will have the opportunity of gaining a good insight into the work of an international NGO. We are looking for a flexible, precise and motivated team player. 
 
Major Tasks 
  • Monitoring and implementation of internal financial management controls and procedures
  • Bookkeeping for the Globethics.net Foundation and other entities in the responsibility of Globethics.net including supervision of the financial affairs of the Globethics USA Foundation
  • Preparation and sending of invoices and follow up reminders
  • Preparation of payments
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly financial internal reports for the management and Board and of external financial reports for donors and the Swiss authorities
  • Liaison with banking institutions, with the auditor and with partners as needed 
  • Management of petty cash
  • Preparation and management of institutional and project financial audits 
  • Support for fundraising efforts and donor relations, including drafting of project budgets and preparation of project financial reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and requirements
  • Graduate in accounting with a minimum of five years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial audit management and administrative work
  • Thorough knowledge of international and Swiss accounting standards for non-profit organisations
  • Good working knowledge of the accounting software Crésus Largo and/or similar software
  • Fluent in English and French and preferably one other language
  • Valid work permit for Switzerland
  • Independent and precise work and ability to prioritise, to meet set deadlines
