null Online Systems Assistant – 50% is an international non-profit, non-governmental foundation with its Head Office in Geneva, Switzerland and partners on all continents. It is a global network of individuals and institutions interested in applied ethics with ethics in higher education as its vision. Through its global digital library on ethics contributes to improving access to knowledge resources in ethics. In addition, it facilitates collaborative web-based research, conferences, online publishing, e-learning and active sharing of information and collaboration. aims at strengthening global common values as well as respecting ethical contextual diversity. is looking for a person to take up a key supporting position in the Finance and Support Services department. The Online Systems Assistant supports with a range of tasks related to the website and online platforms, including the learning management system and online event platform, and technical support. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor deployed systems and provide first line support in coordination with the supervisor;
  • Contribute to reporting and evaluation of the online systems to the Management Team;
  • Implement online design and processing in coordination with colleagues responsible for the Library platform (DSpace) and for communication (webmaster); 
  • Perform day to day operations tasks to ensure deployed systems stay up (backups, log reading, purging);
  • Keep relevant documentation for users and deployments up to date;
  • Contribute to and support the implementation of the IT and online systems work plan;
  • Support project management tasks, including liaison with team members and suppliers;
  • Contribute proactively to software selection processes and to programme design, development and testing;
  • Seek out and ensure that best practice is met and applied;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Place of work
This position is open for candidates working on a mandate basis abroad or as an employee based at the Head Office in Geneva, Switzerland. Those wishing to apply as an employee would be required to be resident in the Geneva region and to have a valid work permit.

Experience required
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in in web content management, strong abilities in programming and strong analytical and communications skills


  • English (mother tongue) is essential
  • Other languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish, etc.) would be an advantage


  • A first level university degree in computer science, communication systems, information systems or related field.
  • Additional training in software applications related to web content and online systems management would be an asset

Knowledge and skills

  • Good knowledge of and experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), with Liferay, HTML and CSS and Responsive Design
  • Familiarity with and working knowledge of Javascript, PHP and Python is helpful 
  • Multitasking and ability to prioritise
  • Consistently approaches work with energy, dynamism, creativity and a constructive attitude
  • The ability to solve problems related to information architecture 
  • Ability to research, synthesise and gather information from various sources
  • Able to work on own initiative in a responsive and timely way
