Globethics.net is an international non-profit, non-governmental foundation with its Head Office in Geneva, Switzerland and partners on all continents. It is a global network of individuals and institutions interested in applied ethics with ethics in higher education as its vision. Globethics.net aims at strengthening global common values as well as respecting ethical contextual diversity.

The Globethics.net South America Regional Office (RO) is in the process of expansion under the guidance of partners in the region. The RO has the role to promote and implement the Globethics.net vision of ethics in higher education and the mission in the region to embed good governance, practice and integrity together with higher education institution leaders, administrators, teachers and students for life-long values-based learning and living. 

Globethics.net is looking for a person to take up a Regional Office Assistant position in the Globethics.net South America Regional Office. The desired candidate would be a reliable, flexible, precise and motivated leaders and team player who would work closely with the South America Regional Officer and with the Globethics.net Head Office. 

Major tasks 
The Regional Office Assistant assists the Regional Officer in administrative tasks for the development and expansion of the South America Office. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Regional Officer in the running of the South America Regional Office;
  • Assistance with routine office tasks;
  • Supporting the organization of workshops, seminars, assessments and other activities online and on site;
  • Prepare communications, PowerPoint presentations, and multimedia materials to introduce Globethics.net to the higher education institutions in the region and for its follow up; 
  • Production of print and multimedia materials in Spanish and Portuguese adapted to the region;
  • Translation of materials provided by Globethics.net Head Office to Spanish and Portuguese; 
  • Processing and presenting statistics regarding the Regional Office activities, its partners, the impact of the activities, etc.;
  • Communication with partners during the organizational phases of the activities;
  • Check the content of the South America Regional Office on the Globethics.net website and provide the material to the Communications Manager for the updating of the Web page;
  • Elaborate material regarding the region to be proposed by the Regional Officer to the Communication Manager for the updating of the Web page and social media; and
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Tasks of Globethics.net are subject to small adaptations. Note that the description is open for future developments and career growth. It will be specified and can be modified in the annual work programme of Globethics.net or whenever appropriate. 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A first-level university degree. Other qualifications would be an asset
  • Experience in office, project and event management and in promotion
  • Excellent knowledge in the use of standard software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), online conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Google Apps (highly recommended).
  • Interest and ease in electronic networking
  • Spanish as a mother tongue. Fluency in English is required. Portuguese would be an advantage
  • Experience in academic environments (recommended)  
  • The ability to manage changing priorities, numerous ongoing tasks and conflicting deadlines

Conditions
Duration: the position is for a fixed period of 12 months with the possibility of renewal
