Abstract:

Without ethics and trust, our societies are in deep trouble. Current global turbulences are chances to reflect. Stückelberger gives us an overview with a lot of background information. The book helps us to be aware of risks, opportunities and our responsibility. It encourages more international cooperation. The key questions of this book "Globalance" are: How can we transform current disruptions, polarizations and imbalances in the world into a new dynamic world order and global balances? How can ethics contribute to this transition by a balance of values and virtues? How can we do it under the conditions of the world Post-Covid? The book contains 250 graphs.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The text summarizes work of the thematic group on Economic and Ecological Justice and Sustainable Future of the Conference of European Churches. The group consists of theologians, experts in ecological and political science, as well as activists from churches across the continent. Caring for God’s creation is an integral part of the calling of the churches. In this publication the Conference of European Churches is asking how this can be done? The book offers a summary of studies and discussions among theologians from churches of different confessional families. A first theological section underlies key aspects of several theological traditions. In a second section, we learn about the European Green Deal aiming to transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient, and competitive economy with no net greenhouse gases emissions by 2050. The text supports the main aim of the Green Deal, however, raises concerns related to some of its principal parts.

Abstract:

Trust is uniquely human and foundation for human cooperation. Today, the Rule of Law is highly relevant to build trust. The current and growing competition between USA and China as two superpowers reduces trust. It is linked to efforts of superiority, especially visible in the sectors of technology, military, trade, research, education and international standard setting and - especially in the U.S. - substantiated with the claim of exceptionalism. This book looks at the concepts, cases and expression of exceptionalism in the current geopolitical context, in the USA and in different countries, which see themselves as exceptional with an exceptional mission. The book offers ethical benchmarks to build trust and to react to notions of exceptionalism.

Abstract:

Abstract:
During the Pilgrimage of Justice and Peace, initiated in 2013 at the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches, the issue of racism has emerged as one of the pilgrimage’s four common themes.
The chapters that make up this publication represent a selection of the papers presented at a series of webinars organized in late 2020 by the Theological Study Group of the Pilgrimage.
Organized around three major themes — whiteness, including its relationship to slavery; racism; and hate speech — the contributions represent an invitation to the ecumenical fellowship to engage in self-critical examination of how practices, orders, configurations, methodologies, and structures of the church(es) have perpetuated the discrimination, xenophobia, and racism that counter unity in Christ.
