Call for Papers
Theme: The Humanities and the Dynamics of African Culture in the 21st Century
Type: 2nd Faculty of Arts International Conference
Institution: Ambrose Alli University
Location: Ekpoma, Edo State (Nigeria)
Date: 11 March 2014 - 15 March 2014
Deadline: 30 November 2013
The fact that Africa is at crossroads in an increasingly globalised world is indisputable. Equally indisputable is the fact that the Humanities as a broad field of intellection, research and learning in Africa appears to have been pigeonholed or at best given the ‘backseat' in the development aspirations of many African countries.
This is against the backdrop that historical experience and research output indicate that the Humanities in its various shades is critical to Africa's capacity to respond effectively to the challenges of security, corruption, ethnic cleansing, poverty, superstition, environmental pollution, kidnapping, HIV/AIDS, communal clashes, among many other mounting challenges which confront African Peoples.
It is within this dynamic cusp of challenges and possibilities that abound in the Humanities that the Faculty of Arts, Ambrose Alli University is organizing its 2nd International Conference, which will draw participants from across the globe. It is intended that this conference would explore contemporary cultural dynamics in Africa and the African diaspora.
