Responsible governance in Ghana: Workshop on the impact of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism measures
On 6 July 2023, Globethics Western Africa Centre (Accra) Regional Manager Susan Ackah participated in a validation workshop on the "Impact of Ghana's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) measures on Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) in the country".
The review and validation session followed a study conducted by the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), which hosted the Globethics Strategy 2023-2027 Launch event in Accra. Research methodology, findings and recommendations were presented by the IDEG researcher and reactions were made by members of the International Finance Corporation-Ghana, the Director of the Non-Profit Organisations Secretariat, and representatives of NPOs present.
Promoting responsible governance through public engagement and policy dialogue is one of Globethics' strategic priorities. "It was an enlightening session", said Ackah of insight gained into NPO policy and legal regimes in Ghana. Ackah also took the opportunity to strengthen the Globethics network, with interest shown by the researchers and other NPOs present in Globethics and our activities.
