Call for Papers
For its 3rd International Conference, to be held at Huissen, the Netherlands, from August 27-31, Globethics.net invites all recipients of this newsletter to submit proposals for papers that deal with the various aspects of the conference topic “Fundamentalism and Ethics”. We would be grateful if you could circulate this call for papers among all interested persons inside and outside your institution and encourage them to submit a proposal for a paper. We will of course also be happy to receive your contributions to this conference.
Globethics.net workshop on “the Use of (Holy) Scriptures in Conflict Resolution” at Beirut
From March 9-12, 2006, the Globethics.net International Board will have its annual meeting in Beirut, Lebanon. On this occasion, our local partner, the Forum for Development, Culture and Dialogue will organise together with Globethics.net a one-day workshop on the topic of “The Use of (Holy) Scriptures in Conflict Resolution”. The workshop shall address the ethical questions related to this issue (which proves to be of particular relevance at this very moment) and give space for an inter-religious and inter-disciplinary dialogue between scholars and practitioners involved in peace and reconciliation related work. The Globethics.net Board aims at benefiting from this workshop to enlarge the network in the Middle East and to deepen its experience in inter-religious ethical dialogue. The workshop will bring together around 25 contributors and participants from Muslim and various Christian backgrounds. A report on the Beirut workshop will be accessible on the Globethics.net website after the event.
Globethics.net has launched a Call for Papers for its 3rd International Conference. We invite proposals for papers on various aspects of the conference topic Fundamentalism and Ethics.
Proposals will be considered for the four parallel workshops, which focus on the following aspects of the general theme:
A) The notion of Fundamentalism and its ethical implications
B) Fundamentalism and the moral point of view
C) Fundamentalism and Religion – ethical considerations
D) Democracy, Tolerance, and Society – Fundamentalism and Ethics in Politics and Economics
The full text of the Call for Papers, including an outline of the conference topic, is accessible on our website.
Proposals shall be submitted as abstracts not exceeding 500 words, together with the application form to be downloaded from the Globethics.net website.
Proposals can be submitted either in English or in French. For financial reasons, however, the main conference language will be English.
Publication of selected papers in a volume in the Globethics.net series is foreseen. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 31, 2006.
Authors will be notified by April 20, 2006. Complete papers are due by August 10, 2006 for circulation among conference participants. Papers should not exceed 6000 words.
Proposals should be sent by e-mail (as word or pdf-files) to: Jean-Daniel Strub, Executive Coordinator of Globethics.net: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to receiving proposals for contributions to this conference both from you and from interested participants that you may notify about this event.
Please don’t forget…
