Call for Papers

For its 3rd International Conference, to be held at Huissen, the Netherlands, from August 27-31, Globethics.net invites all recipients of this newsletter to submit proposals for papers that deal with the various aspects of the conference topic “Fundamentalism and Ethics”. We would be grateful if you could circulate this call for papers among all interested persons inside and outside your institution and encourage them to submit a proposal for a paper. We will of course also be happy to receive your contributions to this conference.

Globethics.net workshop on “the Use of (Holy) Scriptures in Conflict Resolution” at Beirut

From March 9-12, 2006, the Globethics.net International Board will have its annual meeting in Beirut, Lebanon. On this occasion, our local partner, the Forum for Development, Culture and Dialogue will organise together with Globethics.net a one-day workshop on the topic of “The Use of (Holy) Scriptures in Conflict Resolution”. The workshop shall address the ethical questions related to this issue (which proves to be of particular relevance at this very moment) and give space for an inter-religious and inter-disciplinary dialogue between scholars and practitioners involved in peace and reconciliation related work. The Globethics.net Board aims at benefiting from this workshop to enlarge the network in the Middle East and to deepen its experience in inter-religious ethical dialogue. The workshop will bring together around 25 contributors and participants from Muslim and various Christian backgrounds. A report on the Beirut workshop will be accessible on the Globethics.net website after the event.
