'Ethics in Legal Education' was the topic of a two-day training of 35 Law Professors from 13-14 September 2019 at the University of Delhi, Campus Law Centre. This prestigious law school, together with Globethics.net, offered the training. Globethics.net President Prof. Christoph Stückelberger was the principal trainer.
"A sense of morality and humility is needed in all judgments", said Justice Dipak Misra, the former Chief Justice of India, in his keynote. Dr Pavan Duggal, Advocate at the Supreme Court and member of the Board of Globethics.net, called for more awareness in legal professions, particularly concerning the ethical implications of cyber threats.
The event included five keynote presentations highlighting the importance of ethics for legal professions, the relation between law and ethics, the challenges in cyberlaw development, the importance of leadership with integrity, ethics in legal education and institutionalizing ethics in a university.
A large part of the training was conducted through group work, where groups were encouraged to analyse various cases of ethical dilemmas in the teaching law. The event brought together 35 full-time professors from five different universities in the Delhi area.
Further training with faculty from other universities is planned for later this year.
