India is home to over 1.3 billion people and, according to The Times of India, 315 million students—that's more than any other country in the world. For that reason, the question of ethics in education, particularly in India, is paramount.

The purpose of the Chennai conference was to bring together high-profile educators and students for reflection and dialogue on how to integrate ethics into higher education. The five sessions that took place during the conference achieved either one of two objectives: (1) to analyse the current situation of ethics in higher education and (2) to sought out solutions to alleviate these problems.

Highlights from the Conference

Among the themes addressed at the conference were ‘Ethical Dilemmas of Privatization of Education', ‘Ethics in Higher Education as a Catalyst for Societal Progress' and ‘Teaching Ethics in Higher Education Institutions'.
