Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
This publication focuses on the research question: “What can the potential role of Christian worship in the Great Lakes region be to promote reconciliation and peace and healing after social and ethnic violence and conflicts?” The answer this book proposes is that a reconstructed Pentecostal Worship will significantly contribute to the process of reconciliation, peace-making, and healing of the ethnic groups in the Great Lakes region. The study theorises a Pentecostal practical theology backed in the theologies of reconstruction, politics and reconciliation. Using an empirical approach, this book draws on the spiritual, cultural, demographical and sociological potentials at the disposal of Pentecostal leaders to promote a reconstructed Pentecostal worship. It envisions a new praxis of spiritual potentials like prophecy, testimony, glossolalia, and emotional praising as opportunities to reconcile and heal people.

Abstract:
Cultural Goods have the dual nature of being related to both culture and economy. The WTO considers the trade aspects and UNESCO gives value to the cultural aspects of cultural goods. Therefore, there are interactions between the provisions, institutions and practices of the WTO Agreement and UNESCO CDCE on trade in cultural goods. This book examines potential conflicts between the two agreements. In doing so we are proposing three routes to enhance legal coherence between them: propose an improved interpretation of the instruments; harmonise through hard law; and foster mutual supportiveness through soft law.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Ethnic-based conflicts have continued to dot the global landscape. African countries and Nigeria, in particular, have been embroiled in these tidal waves of violent conflicts with cataclysmic consequences. Media Ethics and the Case of Ethnicity: A Contextual Analysis in Plateau State, Nigeria is a critical investigation into the participation of the newspaper journalists in reporting this intractable violent episode in Plateau State, Nigeria. Through deliberate use of lexical, phrases, stereotypes, frames, propaganda and litotes, journalists intensified the conflict. In this easy-to-read book, the author provides guidelines for conflict journalists which includes human rights consciousness journalism as pre-emptive approach to preventing conflicts before they turn violent.

Abstract:
This book explores Christian mission and the Mbuti Pygmies, a sub-group of Central African Pygmies who are mostly forest dwellers. The Pygmies are often still unseen and discriminated against, and as consequence, still remain unreached and unchurched. The missional encounter to reach and minister to the invisible is the key focus of this research. In order to minister to this population, this book proposes that mission among and for Pygmies should be conceived and practiced in the light of new paradigms in relation to the concept of conversion. Theological education should be a holistic Christ-like approach to reach and minister to the invisible.

The book captures the potential for sharing of knowledge, and triggering interdisciplinary collaboration and research across a wide variety of issues ranging from research practice, religion, entrepreneurship, leadership, fundraising and corruption. While some of the chapters focus on the understanding of ethics and its relationship with the various other aspects of life, others concentrate on the methods and strategies of effectively teaching ethics.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Women are subjected to all kinds of violence, such as rape, forced marriage, forced identity, dependence, and a lack of freedom of expression, giving rise to the status of women as second-class citizens. Despite this gloomy picture, women across cultures agree that this denigration can only be stopped and reversed if those who are victims are educated so that they can discuss the problems, proper solutions, and see to their implementation. Many female authors write about the trauma that women undergo and the various ways in which women are marginalized in a male-dominated society. This thesis is based on novels by two female authors, Second Class Citizen (1974) by Buchi Emecheta from Ibuzo, Nigeria, and Das verborgene Wort (2001) by Ulla Hahn from Kirchhundem, Sauerland, Germany. It critically discusses the subjugation of women and violence against them through the prism of the novels' main characters.

Abstract:
The Academic, Church and Business sectors have been three independent worlds for too long. Only recently have the ideas and theories of one segment started to develop and generate a strong and acknowledged impact on the other sectors, cross-fertilizing each other. The aim of this thesis is to summarize how it is possible to derive from theology the kind of philosophical anthropology which can serve as a basis for the right management theory together with its implementation. It is based on the Church's Catholic Social Teaching (CST), specifically on its prime pillar of "human dignity", together with the related academic disciplines, while providing a useful performative approach for those in business. The conclusion is an alternative, holistic system, that considers the employees as persons, rather than economic factors.

Abstract:
This book sought a deeper understanding of experiences concerning fifteen divorced and separated single mothers, five African American, five Caucasian and five Latino aged 27–52 years, divorced or separated for one year or more with one or more dependent children below sixteen years old. The qualitative phenomenological approach employed in-depth interviews to collect narratives thus illustrating its usefulness in bringing out rich data. The implications of the findings for the Mental Health Profession, and the Teaching Profession for both the mothers and their children are stated. Detailed descriptions of the lived experiences of divorced and separated women and associated meanings clarify particular aspects in their lives that could affect their wellbeing. Certain aspects of their lives that promote life satisfaction are also highlighted.

Abstract:
In this book Islamic law is presented from various perspectives to find the common thread between the Sharia, Islamic law and Islamic jurisprudence. The discussion is focused on the characteristics and principles of Islamic law as a means of providing a general overview of how Islamic law should be positioned, especially in the efforts of formulating legal rules that seek to bring benefit for people. Islamic law is brought from its ideal concepts into practical usage. This works gives many concrete examples of the critical understanding of social behaviours in the Islamic society, such as Muslim clothing and the conduct of Muslim women, by providing meticulous hermeneutic analysis of the literature that is used as legitimation of certain religious conventions. This work instills a deep ethical understanding of the normative foundations of Islamic law in the global perspective.
